Acquired Dermal Melanocytosis (ADM) on the cheeks

** Acquired Dermal Melanocytosis (ADM) on the cheeks clinically shows gradual appearance of several small grayish-brown plaques on the cheeks in adolescent. Although this condition resembles ordinaly frekles on the cheeks, the colour of the disease originates in the upper dermis, unlike the later. This disease can be classified as a kind of acquired nevus. 5- 7 times treatments (every 3 months) with Q-switched ruby laser would be effective. The National Health Insurance Program in Japan will cover 70% of the total cost for the laser treatment.
